Breath Water Sound is a free workshop that teaches  simple yet powerful breathing, sound and meditation techniques which eliminate stress from the system so that the mind gains the clarity to solve problems. Most importantly, the course reminds communities of the power each individual has within, to make a difference and to be the change that they wish to see.

The Mural Project is a fun and interactive mural project involving the community in the process and conception of ideas. The outcome is not only a beautiful, vibrant piece of mural art but a lasting sense of community and growth in participants as individuals.

Combined with Community participation, here is an opportunity to discover the essence of community spirit and allow it to animate our interactions within our community.

Mural Magic and the Power of Creativity!

If there was a Mural in Muizenberg what story would it tell?

What would it look like and what would it feel like?

A Mural can be much more than just picture on a wall, a mural could be an end result of an incredibly creative and community building adventure.

A Mural is something that represents a community and uses the power of creativity to bring people together.

Who is part of our community?

How can we embrace our community in all it’s diversity?

Creative Process Workshops will run alongside Art of Livings’ Breath Water Sound Program

The Creative Process Workshop encourages community participation.

A creative process could be anything that helps us begin to feel what the mural will represent and express. These workshop sessions will follow on and interlink and expand the themes discussed from the Breath Water Sound. The Community envision and brainstorm ideas for the final piece and experiment with methods of mural implementation (for example Stenciling.)

Community members are invited to submit ideas and facilitate workshops/ or host experiences  towards the creative process.

It could be a collage session, a walk in the mountain, a theatre workshop, a storytelling gathering, a musical sound journey, an out -reach program, ANYTHING!

The creative results (photographs/ collages/ drawings/ found objects/) can then be displayed the Creative Process Wall for everyone to see.

The Mural Process wall is a dedicated wall within the Heart Space in Muizenberg where all the creative outcomes of each creative process will be gathered and displayed.

The Mural facilitators will host regular community gatherings where participants can share and express their experiences with each other as well as offer the space for anyone to share those creative results that cannot be displayed on the wall, for example, a poem, song, dance, play, music…)

This Sharing space will also allow for the Artists to continue reviewing the themes and questions that have been raised by the community during breath water sound and the creative process workshops.

The Mural Project is a Works in Progress!

This is the first step into the adventure; as we progress we will be looking for Mural Location Sites around Muizenberg as well as funding.

The aim is to uplift the Muizenberg Community by making it  a visually stunning; conscious interactive environment.
